Release Notes

We're pleased to announce Workplace Mobile 3.1.1 for iOS, which introduces the following features:

Workplace Mobile MS Office Integration

In collaboration with Microsoft, we have leveraged Microsoft Office protocols to create a new MS Office integration for Workplace Mobile. With this release, the same feature set we made available in Workplace Mobile 2.5 for Android is available for iOS.

This integration allow users to:

  • Open Office documents stored in Workplace in their respective Office app with a single tap. Changes are automatically saved back to Workplace.
  • Add Workplace as a storage location, allowing easy access to your Workplace-stored files from directly within the Microsoft Office apps.

Open MS Office documents in their native apps

If you have MS Office apps installed on your iOS mobile device (and depending on the mobile Policy Profiles applied to your account), you'll be able to open MS Office documents stored in Workplace with their native apps, and changes will automatically be saved directly back to Workplace.

Add Workplace as a storage location

You can now add Workplace as a storage location in Microsoft Office apps and open your Workplace documents from within MS Office. For step by step instructions on how to use the new storage location feature, please refer to How do I add or remove Workplace as a storage location on my iOS mobile device?

"Open In" Function Expanded to All File Types

We've expanded the "Open In" functionality introduced in Workplace Mobile 3.1 for iOS and Android to allow you to open all files types using this mechanism. Edit Workplace files in the app of your choice, and if the app supports the iOS "Open In" workflow, your changes will automatically sync the next time the Workplace app is launched.

For more information on how to leverage this feature, please refer to How do I edit files in Workplace my iOS mobile device, then save them back to Workplace?
