Workplace Mobile 4.1
September 16, 2021
Release Notes
We're pleased to announce Workplace Mobile 4.1 for iOS/iPadOS and Android. In addition to the features, changes, and issue resolutions listed below, we've made improvements in the syncing, copying, and account validation processes for Workplace Mobile in this release. We've also continued our ongoing work in stability improvements and user interface updates.
Features
You can now easily add items from the Files app to Workplace on your iOS/iPadOS mobile device. To do so:
-
Tap the + icon in Workplace Mobile.
-
Tap Import from Files.
-
Tap on the file you wish to import. You may need to wait for the file to download to the device before you can continue.
-
Complete the Save As process as you normally would.
We've enhanced the Workplace Mobile document viewer with an indicator showing which page you are currently viewing, as well as the total number of pages. If you wish to navigate to another page, tap the page number indicator, enter the page you wish to view, and tap Go.
Changes
With this release, we've permanently deprecated Scribble and have replaced it with equivalent functionality, including highlighting and ink annotation.
NOTE Android does not contain the replacement feature set yet. This will be available as soon as possible.
In our ongoing effort to improve consistency in your user experience across platforms and components, we've updated the Recently Viewed list in Workplace Mobile to display the same items as the corresponding lists in Workplace Online and the Workplace app. Previously, the list displayed the items most recently viewed on the mobile device itself.
NOTE Workplace Online and the Workplace app will implement this same functionality in upcoming updates.
Previously, toggling the device Silent Mode on would silence the audio in the Workplace app. We've changed this to function like most apps whereby Silent Mode only stops notifications but does not mute the audio in the app.
Changes to the underlying OS caused the export to Workplace option to disappear from the native photo app. We have updated Workplace so that it will once again appear on the Export/Share menu.
As of this version, we will no longer support Workplace Mobile on iOS13. The minimum supported operating system is now iOS14.1.
Issue Resolutions
In addition to continued enhancements to the stability and robustness of Workplace Mobile, we have resolved the following issues:
PDF files with text edits (i.e. completed forms) did not display the inserted text when accessed via Workplace Mobile. Additional text now displays correctly in PDFs when viewed in Workplace Mobile.
When a Workplace Mobile device has been rejected by a Workplace administrator, the account stills displayed on the device. With this release, if the user attempts to access Workplace Mobile via the Accounts view, they are informed that it' is not available and are given the opportunity to remove it from their device.
When a user select multiple items in Workplace Mobile for iOS folder, an email function should display. This function was missing and has been restored in this release.
When using the Workplace Mobile "scan" function to scan a document or photo to create a PDF file, the orientation of the image appeared to be locked. Despite changing the phone orientation, the resulting image was always rendered in one orientation. The issue has been resolved; items can now be scanned with the orientation of your choice.
In cases where the Workplace Mobile Security Enforce Authentication policy was set to Passcode or Device Security, and the Require Verification sub-setting was Immediately, users were erroneously prompted to enter a passcode when entering and leaving Public Shares, Help, and About areas in Workplace mobile. These prompts should not be issued, as the user has not left the application. The issue has been corrected, and users are now only prompted for authentication when necessary.
If a user's primary Workplace account is a Workplace Manager account linked to AuthWeb, it was in some cases not possible to set up a Workplace Mobile account. Workplace Mobile setup now operates as expected, regardless of primary account or authentication type.
NOTE We recommend that you set your Workplace team account as your primary account and log into your Workplace Manager account via auth.datto.com.
When copying files to the Workplace folder structure from a backup of a device or via the remote access function, you will not be notified once the copy is complete
