QUESTION   Can't open and/or edit a public share.

This issue may present in one of two ways:

  • When a Workplace file is opened via a public share, a recipient with view/download/edit permissions to the share can't open the file after login.

  • When opening a Workplace file as a public user, Workplace prompt a public user to sign in when opening a Workplace file that had been shared with them.

ANSWER  The public share recipient will have to adjust their browser settings.

While this is an external issue, we can offer a workaround. Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. This behavior can be caused by some browsers moving from a default policy of allowing third party cookies to a default policy of not allowing cookies. As long as authentication requires third party cookies, this process will fail if they are not allowed. Please change the browser preferences to allow third party cookies. After you make this change, restart the browser. If this doesn't correct the problem, proceed to step 2.

  2. Locate the Prevent cross-site tracking setting in your browser and turn it off. After you make this change, restart the browser.
