2023.5 Service Update
September 18, 2023
Release Notes
We're happy to bring you our 2023.5 Service Update. In addition to the features, enhancements, and changes listed below, the stability and security of our service is always central to our development efforts. All service updates contain improvements related to that goal.
Features
Compliance Manager GRC requires that you store attachments, which are only retained for a year. All that changes with our new workflow integration with Compliance Manager GRC, which leverages Workplace as a storage option in Compliance Manager GRC to provide infinite access to attachments. This integration gives you indefinite file storage in Workplace, as well as a broad and rich new file management and sharing feature set. The benefits include:
-
Indefinite file storage
-
Extensive sharing options
-
Recovery of deleted file and previous file versions
-
Native OS interaction with Compliance Manager GRC through the Datto Workplace apps
NOTE The Workplace project used for the integration must have an owner. If you're using a metered Workplace plan, the storage used by the integration files will come from the project owner's storage allocation. For more information about projects, please refer to Getting started: Projects.
For more information about configuring this integration in Workplace, please refer to Compliance Manager file storage integration. For more information about how to configure and use this integration in Compliance Manager, please refer to this page in the Compliance Manager GRC online help.
In an effort to ensure that users are enjoying the most recent Workplace features and fixes available, we've updated our app update policy and have introduced some new interface elements that can help you effectively manage Workplace app versions.
We've amended the Restrict Update Automation policy which, until now, disabled auto-update mechanisms and update prompts, to be sensitive to the Workplace version currently installed. With this release, automatic updates (only available in Workplace v10 or later) and update notifications (in Workplace v8 and earlier) will not take place until the device is in an Update Required version status. Once an update is required, the app will be automatically updated or user prompts to manually update the app will resume.
In the interest of clarity, we've also added a new version status called Most Recent, which you'll see in the Version Status column and filter on your Manage Devices page.
Enhancements & Changes
When there was a Workplace Server, the email notification did not offer an explicit call to action. Instructions are now included in the notification.
