Workplace Server and Workplace Desktop 8.2

This release includes significant infrastructure changes designed to support our upcoming overhaul of single sign-on (SSO) for Workplace.

IMPORTANT  If SSO is enabled, your team MUST upgrade to 8.2. Failure to do so will impact feature availability when we release our SSO update. Please take this time to confirm that all devices associated with your team are up to date!

We've enhanced our monitoring .xml output to support ransomware reporting. If a device is quarantined due to a suspected ransomware event, the value in the agent-subscription-status field will be "Quarantined," allowing you to use your RMM of choice as an additional alert mechanism to the build-in alerts provided in Workplace.

NOTE  This functionality was already supported for Workplace Server and Workplace Desktop for Windows.

Workplace Desktop and Server are now available in Dutch!

With this release, we will no longer support Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 due to Microsoft's termination of support for these versions. Please see Microsoft's articles about Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 regarding their change.

Previously, it was possible to run the Workplace Outlook plugin without configuring Workplace Desktop. We now require that all authentication take place through Workplace, so you must configure your instance of Workplace Desktop in order to use the Outlook plugin.

Workplace Server and Desktop will now send any name changes made on a device and update the device name in the service accordingly.

In a scenario in which a Word or Excel file was locked and then deleted, the system did not recognize the deletion as an unlock event and displayed a persistent warning message. The issue has been resolved.

The Upload and Share feature of the Workplace Outlook plugin did not provide the option to insert a public share. The issue has been resolved and users with sufficient permissions can now add a public share link.

When the Lock Workplace Desktop Preferences policy was applied, existing synced projects were unsynced. Since the only effect of the policy should be to prevent the user from syncing new projects or unsyncing projects, the existing projects must remain synced. The issue has been resolved.

The macOS Catalina release negatively affected the layout of the Workplace Desktop for Mac interface. The interface has been adjusted to display properly.
