2022.4 Service Update
December 5, 2022
Release Notes
We're so pleased to present our 2022.4 Service Update! This release contains the following features, enhancements, changes, and fixes:
Features
In the interest of making Workplace as easy to understand and use as possible, we've simplified our user security model. Member and Connection roles have been renamed to Standard and Restricted User types. And they're all viewed, edited, and administered from one place: the new Users view on the Team tab. Permissions and access to features remain unchanged; it's all just easier to comprehend and manage now.
Enhancements & Changes
Those of you with linked Workplace Manager and Workplace IUL accounts know that managing them can sometimes be challenging. In an effort to reduce the complexity of linked accounts, and because all of our Workplace Manager authentication is executed through auth.datto.com, we'll be requiring that you designate your Workplace internal user license account as your primary account.
This change only affects Workplace Manager users with at least one linked Workplace team account. If your Workplace Manager account is currently designated as your primary account, you'll be prompted to switch your primary account to your IUL team.
NOTE This change might impact your Auototask integration via Livelinks. In order for LiveLinks to function, you may have to create a new manager user account that is not linked to a Workplace team account and configure LiveLinks using that user's email address. For details, please refer to Integrate with Autotask, specifically Publish the Workplace LiveLinks in Autotask.
The Workplace for Windows and Mac app provides Workplace's newest features and functionality, and we'd really like to encourage our users to install and enjoy it. Consequently, we're retiring the download links for Workplace v8 from our available downloads in Workplace Online.
Links to the Workplace v8 downloads remain available on the Downloads page in Workplace Manager.
When you remove a user or group from a policy using the Remove a user or group from the policy profile process on the Policy Profile Detail page, or through the Policy Profiles tab on the User details or the Group details pages, we'll only show you a before and after change" snapshot of the specific policies that will change for that user or group instead of all the policies.
This should make it a lot easier to spot the specific changes that will affect users or groups when you make policy changes.
Fixes
This release includes some very minor interface display and behavior fixes affecting some icons, button labels, and list formatting and sorting. None of them are major changes, but we like to keep things tidy.
In a single instance, allocated storage was displayed incorrectly, and the Workplace Manager user was unable to add more Workplace licenses. While a workaround was available, we've taken steps to ensure that the same issue cannot arise again, for other Workplace Manager users.
The Workplace Manager Access and Workplace Manager user details pages were missing some right-click functionality and button access to some users management features. The interface has been corrected, with all previous functionality resotred.
In some cases, accessing a team's device list via Workplace Manager > Teams >Team Details > View Team Devices resulted in the display of a partial list of devices for a period of a few, followed by an error message. The issue has been resolved and the device list now loads promptly and completely.
In some cases, removing a Workplace Manager user phone number while leaving the phone number prefix in place resulted in the retention of the phone number with the prefix added to the phone number field. The issue has been resolved; removing the main phone number and saving will result in deletion of the phone number, regardless of content in the prefix field.
-
A ConnectWise integration reset prevented adding and editing teams until ConnectWise products were synchronized. The integration reset should not prevent this, and no longer does.
-
An issue concerning the establishment of a connection between Workplace and ConnectWise has also been rectified.
Some records representing Workplace Manager users were displayed in the Users list, which should only display Workplace users. These records no longer appear.
-
The device name was missing from the Devices report.
-
.CSV and XLSX exports from the Devices page were empty, aside form column names.
Team Administrator Manager users could access the > Team Defaults page, which should only be visible and to users with a Full Access user type. The issue has been resolved.
Executing a recursive undelete while the interface was set to the French language resulted in an error message. The issue has been resolved.
Opening the device detail view from the Devices page resulted in the display of an error message. It now opens as expecteed.
The license auto-increment feature introduced in our 2022.2 Service Update was not engaged when adding users with the Copy User feature. The issue has been resolved, and copying users now causes the license count to auto-increment when the feature is enabled.
After beginning a file upload to the Files area in Workplace Online, the cancel button on the Upload Summary banner at the bottom of the page did not cancel an upload in progress. In addition, it was not possible remove files from the file upload list accessed through the "View more details" link. Both issues have been fixed.
It was possible to perform a recursive undelete on a folder that contained a malware-infected file. The issue has been resolved, and it is no longer possible to undelete a malware-infected file from anyplace in the interface other than the security incident concerning that file.
With no additional licenses available, it was possible to generate a license key, install Workplace Server on a device, and approve the deployment without seeing an informational message concerning the lack of available licenses on the Deployment page. A message did, however, display on the server agent. The issue has been fixed, and an appropriate message now appears on the Deployment page.
